Recently, 115 workers met in a Regional Evangelism Consultation held in the Middle East, one of the most Gospel-resistant regions in the world. As each person shared what God is doing in their lives and ministry, it was clear that the Holy Spirit has been growing new hope in their hearts for what God is about to do in their region.
Signs include some very recent, dramatic church growth in one North African country, unprecedented demand for Scriptures in many Arab countries, and research showing a regular audience of 200,000 for Christian radio in one "closed" country.
In the same Consultation, the meaning of "Hope that endures" was impressed upon everyone’s heart. Spiritual oppression and opposition to the Gospel abound, and those who work "independently" are especially vulnerable. There was a renewed commitment to partnership at all levels: "A three-strand cord is not easily broken.”
