A number of years ago, a partnership in Central Asia identified a need for business development. A working group of 11 nationals and one Westerner was formed. They researched various options, and brought in consultants to help them prepare business plans.
In 1998, these business plans were presented at the Central Asia Business Consultation, and some businessmen attending the consultation made commitments to invest their time, money and talents by working directly with the partnership and its business development working group.
In the first 18 months, this cooperative effort bore its first fruit, resulting in the purchase of new machinery for a publishing house.
How fitting that the first project was to print the book of Proverbs, recently completed by the Bible Translation Working Group.
What a practical example of partnership in action! This project has empowered the nationals and expats to work together, integrating various ministries, spurring economic development and producing a good witness in the region.
